Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California
unecessary surgery
Wife has suffered sever abdominal pain for two+ years
Wife was diagnoised with a tumor in her pancreas in October 1999.Doctors advised the risk of cancer.
Doctors recommended immeduate open surgery, did not offer any alternatives.(ie laporoscopy)
Doctors (UCD Medcenter) were to remove the tumor from the pancreas and at the same time following the wipple procedure would remove the gallbladder.
on the day of surgery, October 6 1999 doctors discovered no tumor but proceded to remove the gall bladder anyway?
no one bothered to check with me if they should proceed.
The consent was for a pancreodoctomy only.
Since the surgery her condition has been worsened.
doctors now diagnosis wife with irritable bowel syndrome exasaberated by the surgery by contaminating the intestines even further then prior to the surgery.
Feel this may be a malpractice issue.
please advise, we live in the Sacramento California area.

In order to determine if the bad result is due to medical negligence or that there may have been a lack of informed consent for the procedure you MUST have all the records reviewed by a physician. You may have a case, in which you MUST file your lawsuit within 1 year of the discovery of the problem. My offices are in Southern California.
