Legal Question in Military Law in California

Mobile home park closure on military base

My wife and I are active duty military members currently residing on a military installation, in a mobile home we recently purchased. At the time of purchase there was no warning or indication given that the mobile home park would close. In fact, just prior to our purchase, the base newspaper reassured us that the base had no intent of closing the park, in a front page article on the matter. Now, almost two months on, a basewide email was sent expressing a change in command policy, stating that the command wants ALL parks closed by the year 2008. I have looked at some United States Code(s) but, like most things legal, it's very ambiguous as to whether or not the government will reimburse our mortgage or provide any other assistance. In any case, we're going to lose money as far as I can tell. Depending on how long we are able to stay in the home would dictate how much money we lose I would imagine. Any help or referral would be appreciated.

Re: Mobile home park closure on military base

Please consult your base legal assistance office for legal advice concerning the status of the mobile home park, as well as any government liabilitiy for your displacement. It would be governed by directives applicable to your base, and outside of my area of expertise. Best of luck.
