Legal Question in Military Law in California
How can I get out of my navy contract ealy? The military is not for me.
1 Answer from Attorneys
There are many ways to pursue an early discharge. They key (which ever route you take) is to be persistent and to provide tons and tons of documentation to back up your case. There are no "easy" ways out, but if you follow the rules and are persistent enough, it is possible to quit the military.
Most servicemembers seeking an early discharge do not need an attorney (unless you have issues with misconduct or are facing serious command harassment), but instead contact the GI Rights Hotline (www.girightshotline.org). The toll-free hotline provides free, confidential information on how to exercise your rights. Also the website for the hotline provides links to both the DOD and Navy regulations that you need to refer to.
Good luck on seeking a way out!
