Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I was in a 4 car accident 5 months ago caused by a 17 year old driving a car registered to her father. I had to pay a little over $500.00 to fix my car which is my insurance deductible. The other insurance has been dragging their heels paying me because they say they are still waiting to get information regarding damages from the other people involved. His property damage limits will require the insurance to pay only a portion of the entire amount of damages to all involved. I sent a registered letter to the father telling him what my damages are and that I will give him 30 days to pay and if not, I will take him to small claims court. I figure he can deal with his insurance since he will still owe me money even after his insurance pays. Unfortunately, the letter was returned to me with no forwarding address. Apparently, the address he has the car registered to is not his current address. The insurance company will not give me his current address. What should I do now?

If there was a police report you can check the telephone numbers. Contact the others involved to see if they have any information. Go to the address to see if a neighbor or landlord has the new address.Contact the DMV and tell them the situation and can they do anything, try one of the web sites that finds people for a fee. Tell the insurance company that you are going to sue and serve them with the complaint under substituted service rules as they are reasonably calculated to deliever the complaiant to him [I do not thilnk that is a valid argument but you can try it].
