Uninsured motorists can only collect for the property damage to their vehicle, medical bills, vehicle rental, and lost wages [out of pocket expenses]. You can not collect for personal injury pain and suffering.

Contact the other driver's insurance carrier and inform them of the accident and what expenses you have thus far. Once you no longer need any medical treatment, you can settle with them for the full amount of your out of pocket expenses, but they will not offer you anything beyond that. They probably will be very willing to settle without causing problems for the amoun tof out of pocket expenses you can show. You might want to get a copy of the police report but you probably can get that from the insurance company.

Your license could be taken away for driving while uninsured. You should get insurance coverage, even if it is only for damages to others.

I agree with George get some insurance before you get your license suspended or taken away. If you had insurance you could have also gotten damages for your pain and suffering but since you didn't even though it was not your fault you don't get pain and suffering as a punishment for not having insurance.
