Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Accident 4 1/2 years ago

November 2003 I was involved in an

accident. At the time I was

uninsured for about a week if

memory serves correctly. I

contacted the party whom I hits

insurance and paid the damages for

his vehicle somewhere in the 2000$

range. Now 5-28-2008 I get a

demand letter for $17600. I never

received any bills after my initial

payment. How long can this claim

stick with me and what are my

options?

The Statute of Limitations is 3 years for property damage, which puts you in the clear. Unless you disappeared, they can sue you, but cannot win.

Because of the amount involved, I would retain an attorney, if for no reason that to answer the 5/28/08 demand on your behalf.
