Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I'm afraid I am going to be sued for libel and defamation of character because I was fighting with a woman over using my company's DBA. I understand she can file for the same DBA and it would be fine but she never filed anything and I proved it. Both of us are directors of organizations and our contact information is public. I posted on facebook what happened and listed her public info for people to contact her and express that they disagree with her using my DBA and that they agree she is doing it in poor taste. Based on my extensive research online, I found that she is not from our community and claimed that a woman who has absolutely no connection with our community is using my DBA and said that she is mean. After people called and emailed her, she is coming back at me saying I'm a cyber bully, what I said is untrue (although I have evidence that what I said was true because I researched her before I said it) and now she wants to sue me for defamation of character. Would she have a case? The things I said about her were she chose to lie (I have evidence after going to the County Clerks office), lacks integrity and professionalism and is mean. Would a lawyer take her case? Should I hire a lawyer?

A lawyer might take her case, especially if your research was false. If your research was correct, you may want to hire a lawyer to protect your interests.
