I agree with Mr. Stone-Molloy that the victim's immigration status is irrelevant. But you have not provided enough facts to say whether you are liable. I can imagine many scenarios in which you would not be liable, even if the victim was a citizen. You may indeed be liable, but I would need more facts before I could say whether you are.
