Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

is my apartment responsible for my girlfrined taken hostage in apartment

on sat 6/14, my girlfrind and her 2 daughters move into a gated apartment in Winnetka. When i was returning the rental truck a guy sho stole a car and whow was being chaced by the police made entry into my apartment and took my girlfriend and her 2 daughters hostage for approx 30 minuted until police made netry into the apartment. The suspect is a gang member and we are afraid of what can happen.

do we have a case to sue the complex because the front gate where the suspect made entry to the complex was broken. the losk was no working. if the lock had been working, the suspec would have never been able to get access to teh apartment

Good question.

I really can't answer without knowing how long gate was broken, and whether management knew or not.

Also, other GF being scared, was she or the daughters injured at all. Unfortunately, the law does not provide much in the way of damages for being scared.

It depends upon a number of additional facts which you don't relate and may not know. Call a personal injury lawyer and check it out. It should cost you nothing, and if there is a case, the lawyer will take the case on contingency. I know I would.
