Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

i was arrested for battery after I bumped into a gentleman when going through a doorway. he called the cops the next day. i would think that anything could have happened to him that evening. how can he call the police the next day?

By using a telephone, of course. If you bumped into him accidentally, then it's certainly not assault and battery, as those are intentional acts. However, you have no idea what story he fed to the police, so you have to take an accusation like this seriously.
