Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I was assaulted at work. I am a 34-year old teacher, and a 16-year old student has struck my face with his balled-up fist. I sustained a light physical injury, accompanied with large amounts of anxiety and stress. Among several horrific, mind-consuming stressors is the constant dread of going to work for fear of retaliation, that results in bodily harm to myself and/or my students.
In addition, I feel the school is responsible for this situation, and was negligent to act on my behalf. I request assistance the day of the event, yet the school fail to provide adequate attention to the situation in a timely manner.
If I want to take legal action, what type(s) of action(s) can I take?
Do I have legal rights to seek representation outside my union?
