You have the absolute right to change attorneys at any time. It's such a strong right, that you cannot be charged a higher total fee just because you employed more than one attorney. In other words, the percentage you will pay your new attorney stays the same, even if the old attorney still has a right to some fees. The old attorney's lien gets paid out of the new attorney's fees, not out of your part of the case. The idea is to keep lawyers competitive by not letting them "lock in" their clients. So if you're not happy, just move! Our office, for one, will be glad to help you. Just call toll-free at (877) LION-FOR-LAW (546-6367) or e-mail to [email protected]

In addition to the previous answer, if you do not wantp to change attorneys, call and schedule an appointment with your attorney so you can confront the attorney face to face why they are not communicating with you.

The situation you are in happens more often than you think. You should leave a message or schedule an appointment with your attorney first. If you fail to get a response from that attorney and you have tried several times to reach him or her, and that attorney is not on vacation or out ill, then it should become obvious to you that perhaps that attorney does not have time for your case. In that situation, it may be the right time to retain another attorney. You will not owe any extra attorneys fees if you retain another attorney. You always have the right to retain another attorney if you are unhappy with the one you have. Your attorneys fees will stay the same. We have clients who retain our offices exactly due to these issues. We will be happy to help you if you decide to change attorneys. You may contact us at anytime by calling (310) 277-0997 or e-mailing us at [email protected].
