Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Did not have auto insurance

My daughter rear-ended another car. At the time of the accident we did not have insurance. There was minimal damage done to the other bumper. It was mainly scratched on the top part and there were no injuries. We are willing to pay for the damage and told the person so. What can we expect to happen from this point on?

Re: Did not have auto insurance

There are a number of issues here. Be careful about paying any money. You can pay for the repair and still be sued later for a claimed injury if you are not careful. First, try to negotiate a settlement early. Get a written release of liability at the time you pay over the money or you are not protected. Have a lawyer draft the release for you as there is certain language you must use to be fully protected.
