Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

automobile liability

if my girlfriend and i are both listed on the dmv restistration, insurance policy and loan application for an automobile (99 ford explorer sport) that i purchased for her. and she agrees to be a driver for a school sponsered field trip, where her daughter and another school classmate are in the vechicle. if they have an accident and the costs of the accident exceeds the limits of our policy, will the parents of the classmate be able to sue me for my assesses?

if there a way i can right a document stating that my girlfriend assumes ALL responsibilities financially and otherwise for this school field trip so that i am not held liable?

thank you

Re: automobile liability

No, you are safe. As long as you have at least a minimum insurance policy they cannot sue the non-driving owner for more than the policy but they can sue the driver for more.
