Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

my boyfriend and I had a fight, he has a history of verbal abuse, this last time I got so angry i pushed and slapped him. our daughter was there, but she did not see anything. afraid for her to hear him yelling and calling me names, i left with her to a friends house, he called the police and i was arrested. i was charged with batter and cruelty to a child (because she was there even though i would NEVER HARM my daughter) from the district attorney, i have a court date this week, what might happen at court and how will this effect the future child custody?
