Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

my brother in law is being sued for a auto accident, insurance company has already settled claim, he has nothing and collects SSI in California, but has a percentage in a house that was willed, how will this suit effect the other siblings with intrest in same house.

I must be missing something. If the claim was settled by the insurance carrier, then he should not be sued. Have him tender the lawsuit to the insurance company (call first, then mail or fax a copy of the lawsuit and other documents). They should provide him with an attorney to handle the case for him.
