Burned at a Wholesale Club
My wife and I went to a local wholesale club a few days ago.
In the entranceway, there were some autos on display. My
wife and I went over to look
at the price sticker of one of the autos. Someone had illegally
parked there motorcycle in the entrancway right next to the
auto we were trying to take a look at. As my wife attempted
to squeeze between the motorcycle and the auto to see the
auto's price sticker, she burned her calf on the motorcycle's
tailpipe.
My wife's calf had a 1 by 1.5 inch oval shaped red mark at
first. We did not notify the store personnel at the time. But
later, when we were home, the painful red burn mark had
started to blister.
We went to the doctor three days after the incident. The
doctor told us the burn was likely to scar. Also we are
going on a long awaited boating vacation in a few days and
my wife must not get her leg wet and keep it out of the sun.
Is this injury one that would benefit from having legal
counsel? How much compensation is this worth? We did not
make a claim until two days later.

I realize that your vacation will be ruined but the club is really only required to pay resonable medical expenses and maybe a little in pain and suffering since it sounds like she only received a second degree burn. Your welcome to email me if there is more to it, but if she only received a small burn there really isn't that much money out there for her to collect since her injuries shouldn't impact her life that greatly except for the vacation. I know that isn't what you wanted to hear, but at least it is only a burn and your wife wasn't seriously injured.
