Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

In California, in a personal injury case can a plaintiff be ordered to pay a defendant's legal fees if the case goes to trial and the plaintiff lost the case or a jury returns a judgement in favor of plaintiff with a monetary award less than the highest settlement offer but that settlement offer was contingent on plaintiff signing a non-disclosure agreement?
