Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

car accident with me at fault. no demands was made for ten months?

I got into a car accident ten months ago and the other party's SUV was totaled. i was at fault. so far the other party has not made any demands yet, although they did hire a lawyer. i am getting worried becuase its been so long and i havent heard anything from them. i am an international student with no income. so im assuming they will not sue me since they cant get anything out of me. but i AM starting a new job in a week so im afraid they might take advantage of that. when the other party walked out of the car she said she was fine but now she is complaining about a broken nose and all that. my insurance is telling me my coverage might not be sufficient. if that is the case what should i do? can they legally ask for a part of my paycheck once i start working? is there a statue of limitation for law suits?

thanks!

Demand that your insurance company settle the claim within your policy limits. The statute of limitations is 2 years for personal injury and 3 years for property damage.
