Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I got into a car accident just recently and at the moment I didn't have insurance so the girl took $500 since she thought that's how much it costs. We made her sign a paper "I made a quick car settlement with her" she signed and it's dated with her number, now she is telling me it's more but I don't have money to pay and now she's telling me that she's going to file a police report. I live in Sacramento ca. Note: she has all my information. Please help!!!!

Smart move on your part to settle the accident claim on the spot. But you still have to file a form SR-1 and DMV might still suspend your license for being uninsured. In all probability the police will blow her off, but if they contact you say nothing and tell them your attorney will be in touch.

Whether or not you have a valid settlement depends on the language is the paper she signed. For there to be complete release certain language is required.

I am in Sacramento. If you want me to review the papers I could do that for you, at a fee. Sometimes your Release may be valid, other times, it may not be Valid.
