I think you are entitled to receive a copy of the police report. Insist on it, as you are the victim and by law are entitled to seek compensation for your losses. Tell the police department that I said you are entitled to have a copy of the police report.

In addition to getting the police report, follow up to see if the driver is convicted of a felony.
