Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

No car insurance at the time of the accident, but was not at fault.

I was involved in a car accident about 2 months ago, which involved 7 cars including mine. I had no car insurance at the time and the police report states that I was not at fault. The other 4 cars were at fault. Do I still have the right to bill the other parties for the damages on my car? And if so, what inforamtion do I need to contain in the bill? Do I need an attorney? I have not been contacted at all by any other parties.

Re: No car insurance at the time of the accident, but was not at fault.

You can sue for damage to your car but not for pain and suffering -- which California law says may not be recovered by uninsured drivers.

Also keep in mind that driving without insurance is punishable by a one-year suspension of your driver's license. The police may not notice that you were uninsured, and it is also possible (though unlikely) that they would notice and let it slide given the loss you already suffered.

You say that "the other 4 cars" were at fault but you also say that this was a 7-car accident, so that leaves two cars unaccounted for. Your question thus seems incomplete and it may be that more information would lead me to a different answer.

Just submit repair estimates for the damage.
