Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was charged with a hit and run (property damage only). I completed my community service, paid the restitution, and filed a petition for dismissal (1203.4) and that was granted. Is there anything else I need to do to ensure that this is not seen by potential employers? It was a misdemeanor. Also, how do I get this off my DMV record? It still shows up but it says that it was dismissed.

Theoretically the arrest and conviction never happened, and you need not answer "yes" to any job application involving a private employer. But there's no guarantee that some database company won't report it. To possibly forestall this, be sure and demand that any employer for whom you authorize a criminal history search send you a copy, as is your right.

Often employers only ask about felonies.
