Civil Damages for a fist fight

Is it possible to sue for a fist fight that was started by one person.There were not any real damages to speak of.Also,if you can sue is necessary to file and press charges? This incident happened about 60 days ago and a police report was not filed.Also,one of the people involved(who stared it) was an adult and one was a minor.

A fist fight can result in a lawsuit filed by either side. They do not need to press criminal charges in order to file a lawsuit.
