Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

What does it mean

After a company ruined my car by negligence--I tried to sue them myself because I didn't have the money for a lawyer--I didn't realize the enormous task I was taking on and the case was closed with predigest. I realize I CAN STILL SUE THEM BUT--how do I find a lawyer who will work on a contingency

Re: What does it mean

Well, is it "predigest", "prejudice", or "without prejudice?" Either of the first two means you have no case.

I wonder why I never hear about people performing surgery on themselves, or filling their own teeth, but I always hear about people trying to handle their own lawsuits?

Next time, consult with an attorney!!

Re: What does it mean

If your case was dismissed with prejudice (not "predigest") that means you cannot sue the company again for the same incident. You can only do so if it was dismissed *without* prejudice.

Re: What does it mean

Unfortunately, if your case was dismissed with prejudice, this means you do not have legal grounds to amend or file a new lawsuit on the same matter. However, if you would like our Law Office to take an in depth look as to "why" your case was dismissed (procedurally v. on the merits), we may be able to further assist you thereafter. For such prompt, affordable legal assistance, contact us directly before 5pm Friday for a free phone consultation.
