Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

My daughter rec'd a 2nd degree burn on her wrist when the stove on which she was cooking fell forward pitching hot food onto her. The stove was brand new, and not secured to the wall but was just sitting up on blocks in her kitchen's apt.
