Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Dog Bite Groomer

A family member took his dog to the groomers, and groomer was bit. However the dog has been at the same grooming place two different times before, the dogs has never bit anyone before, not the groomer or another person. Please tell me what the law is on this kind of bite. I have read that when the groomer excepts the dog for grooming, the groomer becoms just like the owner until the real dogs owner picks-up the dog. Please let me know what the law states on bites like this. The suit is for over 300,000.00

Re: Dog Bite Groomer

If you have been sued you must answer the suit or default judgment will be issued against you. You must respond within 30 days. This suit represents a lot of money you should get a competent defense attorney.

The decision in this case will be dependent on a number of facts, which you did not discuss in your question. Get an experienced defense attorney.

Re: Dog Bite Groomer

There is a defense to this type of a case and it is called assumption of risk. It basically says that when you engage in this type of activity you are assuming the risk that you will get bitten. Make sure your attorney is familiar with this legal defense. You have a good chance of winning if the dog has no prior history of biting.
