Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

dog bites man walking

I recently purchased a house that needed remodeling. I hired some handyman(unlicensed) workers to do demo and fix some pipes. I am not living in the house as I own another home not to far away. Without my knowledge one of the workers was taking his dog to the job. This dog attacked a man walking by. He will recover but incurred a large gash on his right arm. The house that occurred in front of is not insured except for damage to the residence. ( my insurance agent has lost a good customer) Am I liable?

I have recieved a letter from an attorney looking for my insurance coverage.

No. Hire a lawyer to intercede. My experience with these things is a couple of quick communications will make it go away at a small cost.
