i got a dui in my ex boyfriends truck.. I hit the curb and caused minimal damage to the truck but he drove it for a month after.. now he is tellin me i owe him 1700 in damages to his truck. can he win this case?

Well, you caused him the damages, correct, so you should be liable to pay him. He must prove that the damages that he is claiming were caused by you, and I think that would be an obvious conclusion that you caused these damages.
He can win some amount, because you were driving under the influence and caused damage. You and he might agree to have a body shop do a detailed estimate for you, and then work out how much you will pay him. If, however, he knew that you were under the influence but permitted you to drive the truck, anyway, he might be comparatively at fault, and the amount might be reduced by the percentage of his own liability. Please don't drink and drive!
