What is the financial responsibility and liability when you fall on property owned by catholic church because of their negligence?

I am not aware of any exemptions allowed to the Catholic Church so they are subject to the same premises liability laws of any other landowner in the State of California
In a negligence case, the Church would be treated exactly the same way as any other similarly-situated defendant. It does not enjoy any special status under the law.
The other answers are correct as far as they go. Churches are treated just like a business corporation for negligence liability (and many other purposes). Like most mutinational conglomerates, however, the Catholic Church is not a single monolithic entity for legal purposes. So you will have to find out from the county recorder what "subsidiary" of "Vatican, Inc." owns the premises. Most commonly, I believe, the Catholic Church holds title to most real estate at the diocese level, but the recorder can tell you for sure.
