Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I was hit on my motorcyle going to work one night and have suffered major brain injury among other injuries. Was not expected to live. Now that I have I am unable to ever work again- handicapped and have 650k in medical bills. The person that hit me was 17 years old at the time and she verred across all four lanes. She only had a minimal insurance policy 15K. Her parents own a recycling company and she was driving a car in her parents name. She says she was coming home from college, if the college is paid for through the company, can I go after her parents and their business? Is there anyway to get any more compensation from this?

You can go after whoever owned the car. If it was company owned, you may, under some circumstances, go after the owner of the company too, and of course you can go after her, and get a judgment that you can follow her with for ten years, and renew it for another ten indefinitely. Who pays for her college, however, doesn't matter, unless she was an employee and was on duty at the time.
The attorney above is correct. However, I wanted to add that although you cannot sue the company who paid for student's education unless the student was an employee and was on duty at the time. Parents and minor are jointly and several liable (along with the minor) for the minors torts or crimes. So you can go after the parents if the child is still a minor, doing this will give you some funds if the minor has no money.
Furthermore, you mentioned that your disability prevents you from ever working again, for this reason you should consider applying for social security disability.
You should contact an attorney to assist you with your case.

I believe that you have rights against the parents as the registered owner of the vehicle to go after their assets. I have handled many motorcycle claims including brain damage. I would be glad to disucss your rights if your are interested. Bob
