Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Injured at Department Store

I was injured at a Department Store last year. I have been through months of therepy and treatment by an orthopedist. My attorney has filed suit against the store and I am due for a deposition in a few weeks. To my best understanding the attorney has of yet to specify any amount to the case even though the suit has been filed and my doctor has released me to from her care. My question is this: is it normal not to specify money damages in a law suit even if it has been filed?

Re: Injured at Department Store

Yes, it's normal. In fact, including a figure in the complaint would have been illegal. California law forbids stating the amount being sought in complaints for personal injury or wrongful death.
