Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
injured at private college
I was recently injured while working in the school's wood-shop
under supervision of my instructor. I asked this instructor to
guide me through the use of the table saw. He provided me
with a piece of wood, and when i tried to push it through the
saw the wood caught and kicked back resulting in injury and
severe briusing to my abdomen. Turns out the instructor
found the wood in the scrap pile and did not inspect it before
giving it me to use. there was a nail sticking out, which is why
the wood kicked back. Because of the injury I have panic
attacks whenever I attempt to use the wood-shop equipment,
and many times just entering the building will trigger one. I
had to withdraw from all classes due to the panic attacks, for
which I am receiving treatment from a psychiatrist. The school
is still trying to charge me tuition for the semester that I was
injured and could not attend classes. Do I have a case against
them?

Yes, I think you have a case for negligence against them. Typically, these cases are handled on a contingency type basis meaning you don't pay anything unless and until there is a recovery from the defendant. Please contact me directly for a free consultation.

Yes, the instructor was negligent. You only have 6 months to file a government claim against the school.
