injury to animal
Would like to know if a person injures a dog on private property with a car, does the auto insurance policy cover the dog for vet bills etc..??

It should. But the driver and or owner of the car are liable.

Most auto policies will cover the driver's negligence and damage to another's property. Animals are still considered property (although animal rights groups convinced some localities to enact ordinances to upgrade pets' status). So, the answer is "yes", an auto policy should cover damage to your "property", including reasonable vet bills. I hope your pooch has healed by now!
