Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

on 03/12 I was returning some lumber to where I purchased it from. I asked for someone to help me unload it and an employee assisted me. I needed to unhook a bungee cord that was used to hold plywood in place and told the store employee to wait untill I get the cord unhooked. As I was about to reach for the cord he started pulling the plywood out and stretched the bungee to its fullest and before I could grab it it snaped off and hit me in the head causing a cut on my forhead and also broke my glasses and caused quite a bit of pain & blood. They took a report and I have yet to hear from anyone. How do I go about getting a new pair of glasses I cannot see very well without them and can't afford to buy them myself. Also do I have a reasonable cause to sue for my pain and suffering, not to mention the embarassment of having this huge scab on my forhead, looks like a third eye on top of my head. It was the employee who was pulling the plywood out and not paying attention to what he was doing and disregarded my instructions of waiting till I had released the cord. I atleast want some new glasses. Should they not be responsible. Thank you for your time and input

Send a certified, return receipt letter to the company's owner (keep a copy) demanding the cost of the replacement glasses, as well as a bit for pain and suffering. Make sure to follow the doctor's advice on using neosporin or polysporin to keep scarring to a minimum. In the meantime, you might check with a Free Clinic in your area or eye centers that might offer discounts to those who can't afford glasses. I know that the Kiwanis Club accepts old prescription glasses. Maybe contact them, as well.
