Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I was involved in a car accident struck a pedestrian about a month ago. My auto insurance will not cover me because of a lapse in policy.I contacted my insurance but they are not likely to help.
I recently received a letter from the victim's worker's comp asking me to contact them. What can i expect to happen?
I have not had steady work for 3 years now, and filed bankruptcy a little over 2 years ago, and more likely to be foreclosed upon pretty soon.
I am mainly concerned about joint bank accounts, can they take money that isn't mine? I have a joint account with my parents, but this is only in case something happens to them. What other assets can they take?

You had better take steps to remove you name from all bank accounts, since once they get a judgment, they can ask you appear and inquire of all your assets. And they can then get the Sheriff to take those accounts to cover the judgment, that will be entered against you.
Mr. Marman is right. Any account you are on is treated as 100% yours for purposes of collecting judgments.
