Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
I just got out of jail and was homeless and my old landlord took me in. This was nice of her except she is slaving me 8 or 10 hours 7 days a week, in exchange for sleeping on her floor. If I don't do what she says she threatens to kick me out in the streets. I have hurt my back but she doesn't care. Is there anything I can do like sue her homeowners insuranc or something? Please answer

Lawsuits are filed directly against the person, not their insurance carrier. What has the homeowner's association done to harm you so that you have any legal basis to sue it? Since you are working for her on a permanent basis, you are entitled to Workers' Compensation benefits; she probably does not have insurance coverage for that, which is another matter she can be sued upon.
There are various ex-prisoner rights organization that might be able to help you. Legal Aid might also be able to help. As soon as you talk about lawsuit she will kick you out. Point out to her that since you are living there in return for working for her, you are a tenant and the law requires a written 30 day notice [check to see if your City has rent control, which may prevent her from removing you]. be sure that you are not in violation of any of your parole requirements and then go to the police to tel them what is happening.
