Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Do I have any kind of case

Back in Feb 00 I was at a friends house he told me to pick some avacodos I climbed the tree and the branch broke and I fell about 5ft on my back. Neighbors found me and took me to the emergency room they kept me a week and then sent me to another hospital where I had thoracic surgery. I had just quit my job in Jan of 2000 so I still had insurance. The insurance company gave me a claim number and authorized all procedures when I came out of the hospital I did not have insurance. My friend said to sue his home owners insurance co. I went to a lawyers office where they wanted me to file for workers comp. because sometimes I worked for my friend. That didn't work. I was then referred to another lawyer which took the case and held on to it for several months and then dropped the case I felt that maybe they got paid of by the insurance co. I then went to another lawyers office and he settled on a claim for around $25k. Meanwhile none of my insurance bills got paid I still have titanium in my back I can barely walk right and the surgeon that fixed me wanted me to think about removing all the hardware in my back. As for my friend he says that I should of sued him personally. Can you tell me if I have any kind of recourse.

I am very sorry to hear about your terrible ordeal. Unfortunately, the settlement for 25K probably barred you from any further recovery. Moreover, you probably have a statute of limitations problems as well.
