Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
Lawsuits against the City of Los Angeles
Hello I was injured in the city of Beverly Hills California behind the
home of a good friend of mine. It happened in the alley where I
was taking out the trash for her. Apparently this huge hole in the
concrete has been there for months and has not been secured or
repaired after many many repeated efforts on the residents part.
What should I do , who should I call, and can you refer to me any
resources for this specific topic or area of Law?
Thank You So Much

Re: Lawsuits against the City of Los Angeles
Call a personal injury attorney. The statute of limitations for making a claim against a government agency (the city of Beverly Hills, or whoever is charged with maintaining the alley behind the houses) is six months from the time of the incident.
Re: Lawsuits against the City of Los Angeles
Assuming that the City of Beverly Hills owns the alley in which you were injured, you will need to file a claim with the City. You should be able to obtain a claim form from the City Clerk, which will need to be filled out and filed with the City within 6 months after the accident. If the City Clerk does not have a claim form, you should immediately contact an attorney.
The City then has some period of time (usually 45 days) within which to either grant or deny your claim. If the City either denies your claim, or fails to respond within the time period, you will need to file a lawsuit against the City.
If you have any questions or need any help in filing out the claim form, you should contact an attorney in your area who handles personal injury claims/government claims.
Re: Lawsuits against the City of Los Angeles
first of all, our law firm offers you our deepest sympathies for your unfortunate ordeal. from the facts given so far, you appear to have a cause of action for tortious negligence on the part of your friend whose house you were visiting the date in question. you may have rights as an "invitee" against your friend in respect to the fact that your friend may have had a duty to warn and make safe the premises for you if you were there for "business purposes". however, even if you were considered a "licensee", you would still have rights against your friend and/or the homeowner's association for failure to warn you of the hazard that they knew of that contributed to your injury. if you would like further legal assistance or representation on this matter, our law firm would consider it an honor to help you get justice here. feel free to email us more detailed information on your case today.

First, if you were injured then you should seek treatment without delay, as the longer you wait the worse it'll get.
Second, call your lawyer and have him/her file a claim. I would not recommend you filing the claim. As you have been advised by others, the statute of limitations is 6 months for the government claims.
If you do not have a lawyer call me for a free consultation (323)782-0099. Good luck.
