Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I need a lawyer stat

My wife and I were rearended by acr that was in turn rearended by another car. To make the story short we ended up filing a lawsuit and are now almost at the trial date. The problem? We are working pro-per and are going agains't a insurance lawyer. An the settlement conference I found out that the attorney for the defendant was not willing to negociate because he is confident that since we are without a lawyer that we will not be able to prove that the injuries wre caused by the accident, which his client admits to have caused. We have all the medical reports and statements from the driver that was in the middle of the collision. I know if we had an attorney we would recover a judgment agains't this defendant but without one it is in question. My worry is that this lawyer will be making motions in Limine to preclude plantiff and other lay witnesses from testifying reguarding causation of injuries or to hearsay of the same subject. If granted, this would severely hamper our case, because that would mean my wife would not be able to say that the accident caused her to expirience the pain that she did. Anybody in the Santa Clara County need some work?

In Santa Clara county the settlement conference is held the Wednesday befor the trial date. YOu should immediately call the Santa Clara County Bar Association or an attorney of your choice and discuss the matter with the attorney. Set up and appointment as soon as possible and take all of the court documents, including written questions, demand for documents and depositions with you.

Your best bet is to retain an attorney and then request a continuance to allow the attorney to prepare for trial.
