What is the liability of a co-owner of an automobile in the event of an auto accident . The co-owner does not drive. California. This where the damage to an indicidual is more than $100000

The non-driving owner of a car is liable up to $15,000; any portion of that first $15,000 paid by the driver of the car reduces the $15,000 by a like sum, so if the driver pays $10,000, the owner would have to pay $5,000, if $20,000 the owner pays $0.
