Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Can I make a deal?

My wife was at a stand still and was rear ended by another vechical. She has retained and attorney and now wants to know if she can call the faulted partys insurance comp. and try to work out a deal on the grounds that she will drop the attorney and the personal injury suit for a settelment. or does she need to drop the attorney first before speaking to the faulted partys insurace company.

i doubt they will speak to her if she has an attorney
