Malfunctioned Toyota caused accident, what can we do ?

In the market parking lot, my friend just started his 2003 Toyota Tacoma, the car then began to run like crazy, totally damaged 3 other cars and his car is destroyed. AAA said the chance to win the car manufacturing is very little. Please show me what we can do in this case and what kind of Attoney who will handle this(investigate to prove the car is malfunctioning). Police officer let my friend go home after questioning him, if I'm not wrong, that proved that he is not DUI and he was driving in good physical condiction. Thanks in advance.

Your friend should research whether there were similar problems with the Toyota Tacoma. See, e.g., http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/toyota_tacoma.html. Since it was a 2003 vehicle, other than a manufacturing defect, he's responsible for its maintenance. He should report the accident to his insurance carrier.

Mr. Cohen gave great advice. In addition, if your friend thinks it is the Tacoma that had a defect, he should send a letter to his insurance adjuster and request that they investigate this immediately. If there is a problem, they will go after Toyota. If there is a problem and they choose not to, your friend may have a case against his insurance company.
