Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was a minor child (7 yrs) involved in a large class action lawsuit. I lived in Avenal and Kettleman Hills when PG&E was polluting the ground water. We prevailed and I believe my mother was to hold in trust money for me which I never received How do I go about finding out how much her settlement was?

Go to the court house and look up the case name in the civil index and ask to see the last volume of the court file. Don't order the whole file from storage. You'd need a moving van. Look up the name of the attorney who represented your mom (or all plaintiffs) and contact his/her office and ask the amount of the settlement and where the funds were deposited. There will also be a court order on your case individually which directs how your money should be handled (should have been a blocked account prohibiting withdrawal without a court order). So check with that bank too. If your money was stolen by your mother, then it is possible that either the lawyer or the bank were negligent. For example, if the bank released your money without a court order, they would be liable to make it up to you, with interest.

If you need further help, you can call me for a free consultation. I do all kinds of civil litigation. 415 233-0605.
