how much money do you get from a hit and run case and my insurance caught the person

You should be made whole, financially. You might be offered either the actual cash value or the replacement value of your vehicle. You also are entitled to recover your medical bills, if any, and money for your pain and suffering. Of course, if the other driver had no insurance, you might have to make a demand under your own uninsured motorist (UM) provision of your policy, assuming that you have that kind of coverage.
It all depends on the nature and extent of your damages. The previous answer is correct. You may also be able to recover punitive damages because of the hit and run.
I agree with Mr. Cohen and Mr. Kuhn about what you are entitled to. Whether you will actually get it, though, will depend upon the defendant's wealth and insurance coverage, as well as (possibly) your uninsured motorist coverage. It will also depend upon how many other people are making claims, since hit & run cases often have multiple victims. And if you end up having to sue, the caliber of your lawyer and his will be a factor, as will the caliber of your judge and the fairness of your jury if the case actually goes to trial.
Good luck.
