Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
In October '09 I was shopping at a store when an employee carrying a large box full of handbags ran into me, hitting the corner of my knee with the corner of the box. She kept on moving as though she hadn't noticed that she'd hit me. I reported the incident to a store employee, who did nothing. The following day, my knee was extremely swollen and had a huge hematoma. I wrote a letter to the store manager, who told me she sent it on to the corporate headquarters, but I never received any response from the company. Since this incident, I have had continual problems with swelling in the same area of the knee where I was hit, as well as terrible knee pain. I went to an orthopedist, who diagnosed patellofemoral syndrome and has prescribed physical therapy. I experience pain on a daily basis, and my physical activities are extremely limited. Walking and driving are painful. Do I have any legal recource for the medical treatment and suffering?

Yes, you do, and you should pursue the matter, since you have a valid case. This tactic of ignoring a claim is very common among large retailers. They only pay attention to those claimants who "get serious" by hiring a lawyer. We take cases at no risk to you regarding legal fees or expenses. If there is no recovery for you, then you don't owe us anything. If you would like to talk this over in more detail, please call (877) LION-FOR-LAW (546-6367)
Mr. Stone is correct. You will need a lawyer as under your circumstances
[severity of injury for the force of impact, can not identify employee, passage of time] they will not pay you anything if you represent yourself.
I handle these cases all over the State of California. You may call me for a free consultation at 800-816-1529 x. 1.
