ongoing medical coverage

My Brother was seriously injured while walking out of a retail store exit in Hawthorne California when a part of the door frame broke away and swung down slamming against the left side of his head right next to his eye. He is represented by a law firm but his question is: Can he pursue ongoing medical coverage in his settlement agreement terms?
