Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
A parent at my sons high school requested that my son drive her son to school. They both attend the same high school about 22 miles away. She offered to give me $80 dollars per month toward gas. I am concerned about the liability. My son turns 18 in 4 months. She was chatting me up for about 25minutes today to convince me to allow my son to drive her son to school in our car. Should I have her sign a waiver or what sort of protection should I get before allowing this. I do not need the $80 dollars!
Thank you,
Denis

As long as your son does not have restrictions on his license as far as passengers are concerned and you have insurance on the vehicle he is driving and your son is an additional insured in your policy then you are covered. This all presumes that he has your permission to drive your car which does not seem to be an issue.as long as the money is for reimbursement for gas then he would not be considered a for hire driver
