Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
"My parents own a day spa. they have a customer who came in Dec 2012 to get a 30 min massage. 2 weeks later the customer sent my parents an email stating she was injured from the massage. she was suffering from a dislocated rib and some problems with her cervical spine. she told my parents to pay her $200 for doctors bill and $600 for 2 weeks of lost wages. she stated she want to rectify the problem so she does not need to take us to court and that she has a lawyer. she send us two email already. . I don't know what to reply. my stepmother in a 5 ft 1 inch tall women, weighs about 130 ld. I don't see how it is possible for her to claim all that injury. please advise. Thank you "

Well tell her that since she has a lawyer you can't communicate with her. Ask that her lawyer communicate with you and explain why you're liable, factually and more importantly legally.

Your insurance will handle this for you, it is what it is for.
Look to see whether your policy says "professional service exclusion." It would mean the injury from the massage is not a covered event. Best of luck.
