Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
My parked car was damaged by a car driven by a felony suspect fleeing from the police - basically a police car chasing this suspect in a stolen car through a residential neighborhood. It happened in front of my house and the car was parked on the street. I contacted the city in hopes they would step up and compensate me for the damage. Their response was to give it to my insurance. but I have a $500 deductible and don't want my rates going up. I don't think I or my insurance should be out any $ due to events at least partially caused by police. The estimate for repairs was $1700. Any suggestions.

I am afraid that you have no remedy. If the police knew it was a stolen car then they had a right to chase after it. They should have had their siren and flashing lights on, but failure to do so was not a cause of the accident.
Your insurance rates would only go up if you were at fault for the accident, but your deductible would still apply. You could ask the Court to require the felon to compensate you but he probably has no money.
